David Austin, 36, is proud to call Bel Aire home. He and wife Keturah are the parents of a daughter, Jessica, who is in 8th grade. For nearly eight years, David has served as the manager of public relations and events at Envision, a non-profit agency that provides employment, public education and low vision rehabilitation for people who are blind or low vision. He was honored as a “40 under 40” honoree by the Wichita Business Journal in 2007.

For more than eight years, Austin has written the sports column each month for the “East Wichita News,” and has provided occasional feature articles. He also writes for “Sports Spectrum” magazine, a national publication dedicated to professional and Division I athletes and their faith.

Prior to joining Envision, David spent more than six years in the local media. Three years were spent on-air at the former KTLI Lite 99 FM and three years were spent as the sports editor at the Andover Journal-Advocate. He also worked for nearly three years at Community Housing Services Wichita/Sedgwick County as a neighborhood and program coordinator in the KenMar and Oaklawn areas of Sedgwick County.

Education:

David attended grade schools in Paducah, Kentucky, and Marissa, Illinois, and high schools in Marissa and Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, before coming to Kansas to attend Bethel College in North Newton, graduating in 1995 with a B.A. in communications. He also has earned credits towards a Masters Degree at Wichita State University.
